Boiler fault finding & repairs

No hot water, unreliable heating or a recurring fault code can have several causes. Jake takes boiler repair enquiries with the aim of identifying the problem before the repair options are discussed.

Describe the symptoms rather than trying to name the failed part. A boiler that loses pressure, switches off intermittently or heats water inconsistently needs an assessment of the appliance and, where relevant, the surrounding system.

How Jake can help

  • Boiler breakdown and fault-code enquiries
  • Loss of pressure and intermittent operation
  • Discussion of repair options and any parts required

The details that help diagnosis

Note whether the problem affects hot water, heating or both. Include when it began, whether it is constant or intermittent and whether anything changed immediately beforehand, such as other heating work.

A clear photo of the display and the make/model label can help. Only use labels and controls you can see without opening the appliance.

Repair or replacement?

The cause of the fault, condition of the appliance and availability of suitable parts all matter. An online description cannot establish whether repair or replacement is the better option.

If replacement is worth considering, Jake can discuss it separately with you. An enquiry does not commit you to buying a new boiler, and response times and costs are confirmed for the individual job.

What to include in your enquiry

  • Boiler make/model and exact fault code
  • Whether heating, hot water or both are affected
  • A description of leaks, pressure changes or intermittent symptoms
  • Postcode and a contact number if you would prefer a call

Your questions answered

Can you guarantee a same-day repair?

Availability and repair requirements vary. Call to discuss a time-sensitive fault; the website does not promise same-day attendance or repair.

Should I keep resetting the boiler?

Follow the appliance instructions and do not repeatedly reset an unresolved fault. Explain the fault and any reset attempts when you contact Jake.

What if I smell gas?

Do not use an enquiry form for a suspected gas escape. Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
